Last Monday, Bolshevik LARP’ers from the #ROC Soviet protested RG&E at City Hall.

This was a follow-up action to the “Red Town Hall” they previously held in October.

Their calls for a public takeover of RG&E are framed in classic marxist claptrap updated for the 21st century with all the right buzzwords and their argument boils to two main points:
“Many of the folks who came to the protest have experienced similar issues to what News10NBC has been reporting on for nearly a year. Giant bills after actual meter reads, the utility not showing up for scheduled appointments, unjustified fees and surcharges and billing errors. In many cases when customers call to complain or just to get an explanation, they can’t get through.
“You try to make appointments, you can’t talk to anybody, you can’t leave a message, it’s a mess,” says Elieen Rehn, an RG&E Customer. She joined community advocates at Metro Justice who have also been getting a lot of calls from people looking for help, “it’s constant, everybody is really, really upset with RG&E and is just tired of not seeing things get better and only seeing their bills go up,” says Mohini Sharma.”
and
“Fairport, Spencerport, and Churchville all have public utilities”.
For the last point , “If they can, why can’t #ROC?” seems to be the logic.
The answer is simple - because those towns and villages are run by Republicans. They can have nice things. Imagine the same people running the PAB running your utilities provider? Yikes!
But there is something more to this I noticed…
Every single one of the non- rate related complaints made against RG&E by these agitators pertains to a lack of Whiteness within the company culture.
Yes, those very same agitators who for the last two years have been attacking anyone and everyone in #ROC whom they deem to benefit from so-called systemic racism now are demanding that the same culture of Whiteness they seek to disrupt and dismantle elsewhere be established by the BIPOC owned utility.

If only they put as much effort into English and Math learning as they do “Social Emotional Learning (SEL)”.

Redistricting Realpolitik:
A recent analysis of Republican’s performance in the 2022 midterm elections explains everything you need to know about the current legislative redistricting drama in Monroe County and the different factions involved.
“In particular, Democratic mapmakers and supposedly nonpartisan but liberal-leaning redistricting commissions have no longer felt bound by the Voting Rights Act to pack blacks into black-majority districts — a tactic Republicans have encouraged since the 1990 election cycle because it leaves fewer Democratic voters in adjacent districts.”
